The Roads and Transport Authority, (RTA), has won in three categories of the Gulf Sustainability and CRS, Corporate Social Responsibility, Awards at the GCC level.
The categories are environmental sustainability programmes, government sustainability initiative and water treatment and management.
Held in Dubai, the awards provide recognition for companies and individuals implementing outstanding Sustainability and CSR initiatives across the region. The latest edition of the awards saw huge participation and strong competitions from public and private entities.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, received the awards from Nasir Bu Shehab, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector and Chairperson of Energy and Green Economy Committee at RTA.
He commented, “This accolade underscores our commitment to support the Green Economy concept. RTA plays a key role in supporting this concept as directed by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
“In 2012, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed unleashed a long-term initiative to build a green economy under the theme: ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’. Last year, His Highness also launched the ‘World Green Economy Organisation,’ based in Dubai, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme. Winning a considerable share of these awards bears reference to RTA’ keenness to turn our government’s drive to a reality on the ground,” he said.
Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the Public Transport Agency, was also present at the event.
