UAE remains favourite FDI destination: VP

Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Sunday visited an exhibition held as part of the 7th Annual Investment Meeting, AIM 2017, a world-leading, emerging markets’ foreign direct investors platform under the theme, “International Investment and Competitiveness”.
As many as 250 companies and government departments from 125 countries, including the UAE, are participating in the event. The exhibition provides a platform for participants to network, share experiences and information about the FDI and strategic partnership in countries seeking to attract investment, HH Sheikh Mohammed noted.
“The UAE will remain a favourite destination for FDI because it enjoys stability, security and legislation enacted to protect capital and create an encouraging, safe and clean environment for investment,” he said. Welcoming participating organisations and business people to Dubai and the wider UAE, he further noted that the UAE enjoys a good reputation in global investment circles.
Sheikh Mohammed stopped at the stands of Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Police, Dubai Airports, Dubai Public Prosecution, Dubai Land Department, Dubai Executive Council and Dubai Economy, where he was briefed by representatives of the exhibitors about achievements made in the shift to e-government and e-services.
During a visit to the Tatarstan pavilion, His Highness was briefed by President Rustam Minnikhanov about the Asian country’s economic potential, natural resources and attractiveness for FDI. Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed also received several economic ministers participating in the Annual Investment Meeting forum, AIM 2017, organised by the UAE Ministry of Economy this morning at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
His Highness welcomed official guests, led by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, who praised the social and economic development achieved by the UAE. President Minnikhanov expressed his admiration for the yearly changes in the cultural landscape of Dubai while stimulating investment in various economic sectors.
The meeting was attended by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Protocol and Hospitality, and Saeed Al Marri, CEO of the Dubai World Trade Centre and Director-General of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commercial
Marketing.
Also in attendance was Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, UNCTAD, John Danilovich, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce, as well as several ministers of economy and other participants.
