The national service is one of the bedrocks for building generations who are capable of addressing challenges and instilling the values of loyalty, belonging and sacrifice for protecting the nation, preserving its achievements and gains, spurring national development and consolidating the nation’s security and stability, said His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
He was speaking to the Abu Dhabi Executive Council’s employees who had completed the national service training programme. The meeting was held on Monday at the Wahat Al Karama – Oasis of Dignity – a permanent tribute to the UAE’s brave soldiers and other Emiratis who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their nation.
‘‘The national service is an honour for the nation’s youth, an opportunity to hone their skills and build their character. It is an investment in the generation who represents the present of the UAE and its promising future,’’ the Abu Dhabi Crown prince said. ‘‘The UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will proceed confidently towards a bright future driven by the determination and will of its citizens,’’ he added.
