Proper education is a shield against destructive ideas and misguided groups, His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, said.
A solid family background contributes effectively to the nation-building, he added.
The Sharjah Ruler expressed his views during a television talk show hosted on Sunday noon by Sharjah Satellite TV, and moderated by Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director of
Sharjah TV and Radio.
Sheikh Al Qasimi also spoke about a poem, which he delivered during the Arab Creativity Award Ceremony, which was held in Abu Dhabi. The poem describes the situation in the Arab and Islamic
nations.
“The poem was in response to the poem delivered by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Adviser to The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Governor of Makkah, and President of the Arab Thought Foundation, on the first day of the celebration. Prince Khalid had complained about the status of the Arab and Muslim countries, in light of the crises there,” he said, while referring to why he composed the poem.
The poem by the Ruler of Sharjah has envisaged how Islam shapes lives and spreads knowledge. However, he lamented the resurgence of pre-Islamic trends that are characterised by ignorance, with many deviant groups masquerading as the keepers of Islam.
The Arab and Muslim world was fine until these elements distorted the image of Islam, he noted, adding that the discourse of extremists is more serious than in the past, as they attribute their misinformation to Islam.
The Ruler of Sharjah reiterated that the proper upbringing would protect children from destructive ideas in the future.
