SKMC nurses win three awards in USA

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), the flagship hospital in Abu Dhabi Health Services Company’s healthcare system, has won three awards at the Cleveland Clinic Nursing Excellence Award ceremony held in the American city of Ohio.
The Cleveland Clinic Nursing Excellence Awards honours the best nurses and thanks them for their efforts.
The awards are an annual event to honour the most inspiring nurses who follow the highest standards in patient safety, and have dedicated their careers to provide the best health care, in accordance with medically proven practices, besides providing guidance to their colleagues to achieve best results.
Safaa Al Mustafa, Chief Nursing Officer, SKMC, who won the award for Leadership in Nursing, said during a speech that the award was a special honour, and it reflected the level of advancement achieved by the nursing leadership, in co-operation with international partners, and the advancement of the health care system in the nation.
In the Nursing Excellence Category, the winners were Jihad Yassin, Nurse Responsible for the Children’s Tumours and Blood-related Diseases Unit, and Zamzam Hammoud, Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit.
Dr Aref Al Shehhi, Acting Chief Executive Officer at SKMC, remarked that the nursing standards in the Seha company were rising and constantly developing. He expressed his pride in the fact that three members from the nursing staff had won the excellence awards in the USA.
The nursing profession is a vital part of the institute, and its main goal is to deliver the best medical care to its
patients, he stated.
