The results of this year’s Arab Knowledge Index will be announced at the Knowledge Summit 2016, to be held between December, 5-7 at the Grand Hyatt Dubai hotel. The summit’s theme for 2016 is “Knowledge Present and Future”.
The event is being organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, MBRF, a member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
The summit is held under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and follows directives from H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of MBRF.
The Arab Knowledge Index is a scientific tool that tracks the realities and status of knowledge across the Arab world, taking into account the singularities of each country, and provides accurate data so that decision makers, experts and researchers may use the same to come up with sound plans and policies for sustainable development.
During the Knowledge Summit, the Arab Knowledge Index team will give a detailed presentation on the index and its various categories, including pre-university education, higher and vocational education, information and communications technology, research and development, innovation and the knowledge economy.
“The Arab Knowledge Index has come a long way and has recently concluded many rounds of evaluations and reviews. Data provided by the Index was verified by international bodies, asserting its credibility and ensuring its compatibility with international standards,” said Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing
Director of MBRF.
“In the past few months, a number of events and workshops have been organised in order to disseminate the results of the Arab Knowledge Index, and use them in all Arab countries. These events were held in Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Morocco, and New York,” he added.
The data generated by the Index will provide valuable support for governments’ efforts to set plans and strategies to build their knowledge economies and achieve sustainable development,” he added.
