The Dar Al Ber Society, DABS, is to contribute AED 500,000 annually to students of low-income families at the Ajman University of Science and Technology, AUST.
The 37-year-old university, based in Ajman, is to cut the academic fees by 20 percent for DABS staff members, their children, as well as the students of low-income families referred by the society.
The move followed two Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs, signed between the Society and Thamer Fund for Educational Solidarity, TFES, and AUST.
However, the quota assigned for Dar Al Ber staff, their children, and the students referred by the society will not exceed 10 percent of the total AUST study seats in law, media, business administration, IT, education, and basic science.
The first Memorandum was signed by Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, Executive Director of DABS, and Abdullah Al Mazrouie, Chairman of TSFES, and the second was inked by Dr. Khalid Al Khaja, President of AUST, and Khalid Abdulwahhab of DABS, Ajman branch.
Abdullah Al Mazrouie, said that the agreements will be ‘added value’ for needy students. “Cutting their academic fees will reduce the financial burdens on their low-income families.
