Food Tech Valley, a UAE-government-led initiative aimed at building a sustainable food ecosystem, has announced a 27-year strategic agreement with Badia Farms to implement hybrid models for growing premium fruits and vegetables year-round.
The agreement was signed between Rashed Mohammad, Chief Real Estate Officer of Wasl, and Omar Al Jundi, Founder and CEO of Badia Farms, which is backed by Gulf Islamic Investments (GII). Badia Farms will employ hybrid growing models across a 236,000 sq ft plot, using both vertical and horizontal farming techniques. These sustainable methods utilise 90 percent less water than traditional farming and are powered by clean energy sources. Badia’s produce is grown in a controlled indoor environment without pesticides, ensuring fresh, nutritious products that meet the highest quality standards.
