“Make-A-Wish” Foundation said that celebrating World Mental Health Day, recognised by the World Health Organisation on October 10 each year, represents an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of mental health for sick children alongside physical treatment. On this occasion, Hani Al-Zubaidi, CEO of the UAE-based “Make-A-Wish” Foundation, stated, “World Mental Health Day holds great importance for our foundation, as we witness firsthand the deep connection between psychological well-being and the healing journey of children battling critical illnesses. Wishes are not just moments of joy; they provide hope, strength, and the psychological resilience that is essential for both physical and mental recovery.”
He added, “For many children facing life-threatening illnesses, uncertainty about their future can be a heavy psychological burden. The experiences of wish fulfilment, which we tailor for each child according to their dreams, offer them a ray of hope that helps them cope with anxiety, fear, and stress. Therefore, we recognise the importance of caring for the mental health of children as being just as crucial as caring for their bodies.”
Al-Zubaidi concluded, “On this day, we renew our commitment to making wishes that change the lives of children, bringing them joy, psychological healing, and strength at the same time.” Through our combined efforts with hospitals, institutions, and public and private companies, we can ensure their mental health and grant them the courage to continue fighting and achieving their dreams.”
