Emirati artist Khaled Al Jaberi, who has contributed to the local landscape of cartooning, comedy, literature and cinema, wants to recreate other landmarks across the emirates in his forthcoming work canvas.
Al Jaberi has created the designs for The Coffee Club’s ‘Bean Here’ Ceramic Mugs Collection, which is a tribute to the iconic landmarks of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. From the grandeur of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to the glorious Burj Khalifa, the new mugs are a vibrant reflection of the UAE’s multicultural tapestry. 
Al Jaberi’s artistic vision is hard to miss in the ceramic mug collection, which captured the essence of the two emirates, putting across many landmarks on a relatively small canvas — the coffee mugs — yet done with precision and detailing.
The Emirati artist has his heart on the Corniche skyline in Abu Dhabi — the UAE capital where he was born and raised. “Whenever I visit the Corniche area, it’s like a homecoming for me. You’ll be able to notice the detail of the Corniche and the visual experience on the Abu Dhabi mugs, while Hatta and the Creek side of Dubai I adore a lot,” he said.
It took around four months to design Abu Dhabi landmarks for the mug collection, while Dubai took about a month for Al Jaberi. The collaboration with The Coffee Club has been an incredible opportunity to showcase the beauty and diversity of Abu Dhabi and Dubai through art and the artist, said Al Jaberi, a mechanical engineer by profession besides his cartoonist hat. “It’s been a joy to see my work come to life on these mugs, representing the unique cultural blend that defines our region. I’m honoured to be part of this project and contribute to creating meaningful experiences for coffee lovers in the UAE and worldwide.”
The Coffee Club has partnered with RAK Porcelain to create a unique collection of ceramic mugs. The partnership showcases Liwa Minor’s dedication to local craftsmanship and cultivating creativity and community in the UAE.
Now, Al Jaberi wants to take this story further. He paused and smiled when asked what he wanted to recreate next on a collectable mug. He said that it would be Riyadh, whose skylines fascinate the artist in him in the whole GCC. Of course, he quips, after Abu Dhabi and Dubai. “Putting Istanbul on a bigger canvas would be equally a captivating experience. The Turkish city is so colourful. It boasts of natural beauty and spectacular architecture too,” he added.
