Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) has organised the TVET Leaders Forum at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC Abu Dhabi). TVET Leaders Forum brings together leading national and global experts from the sectors including business, industry, education, and technical and vocational training. The forum aims to find solutions to the most pressing global challenges facing the technical and vocational education. It also includes discussions on enhancing partnerships, supporting a culture of innovation, and proposing practical strategies to bridge the gap between educational outcomes and the needs of the labour market.
In his remark at this event, His Excellency Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, said: “In today’s fast-paced technological landscape, the significance and influence of technical and vocational competencies in attaining success, both on a personal and organisational level, are on the rise.”
At ACTVET, we continuously strive to keep pace with emerging trends in this field and equip national talents with future skills across all sectors, in alignment with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and the UAE Centennial 2071, and the national strategies aimed at preparing a generation of Emiratis capable of leading and actively contributing to shaping the future.
“The importance of technical and vocational training extends beyond enhancing youth employment opportunities to contributing to national economic growth. Through this forum and many other events in this field, we aim to empower Emirati youth and contribute to bridging the skills gap resulting from the rapid global changes in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This contributes to enhancing Abu Dhabi’s status and the leadership of the UAE in various economic sectors.”
This year, the forum is held along with EmiratesSkills National Competition 2024 at the same venue. This provides visitors and participants with the opportunity to engage with educational and vocational training leaders as well as to visit the competition to see Emirati youth showcasing their skills in technical and vocational fields according to the highest standards.
The forum will commence with an opening speech by His Excellency Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training. It includes two panel discussions, the first titled Inspiring Emirati Youth, featuring a select group of graduates from the ACTVET working in various fields. The second session titled Apprenticeship and TVET for Sustainable Development, will feature Dr Olivier Pieume, Chief of the Technical Cooperation Unit and Head of the UNEVOC Network Secretariat – UNESCO and Heng Guan Teck, Board member – WorldSkills International.
