Mohammed bin Rashid announces Niveen Khashab as winner of GAM Award in Natural Science

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has announced Professor Niveen Khashab, Associate Dean of Physical Sciences and Engineering Division and Professor of Chemistry at KAUST – Kingdom of Saudi Arabic, as the winner of the Great Arab Minds (GAM) award in the natural science category, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development, synthesis, and application of nanomaterials in healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, and environmental sectors.
In a tweet published on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Sheikh Mohammed announced Prof Khashab as the winner of this category of GAM, the Arab world’s largest movement launched in 2022 to search for exceptional Arab talents in various fields. Her significant work in the smart encapsulation of drugs, proteins, and genetic materials greatly contributes to the burgeoning fields of personalised medicine and anti-aging.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said that scientific achievement is the basis of civilizational development, underscoring the need to enable and honour scientists, celebrate their achievements, and provide them with the necessary platforms to transform their ideas and research into reality.
Prof Khashab has a track record of over 275 scientific research rappers and publications in organic chemistry and nanotechnology. Her work focuses on understanding molecular interactions and self-assembly to prepare and comprehend nano-assemblies.
Prof Niveen’s research is centred on designing nanoparticles with variable porosity, which aids in the advancement of personalised healthcare by ensuring treatments are specifically tailored to individual patient needs.
