Several people killed in mass shooting near Los Angeles

Ten people were killed and ten wounded in a mass shooting in Monterey Park, a city east of Los Angeles, following a popular Lunar New Year celebration, the Associated Press reported, citing police.
Bob Boese, an officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the suspect was a male and is still at large.
The shooting was reported to have taken place at a ballroom dance club after 10 p.m. Saturday night local time, with witnesses saying the alleged shooter was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, AP reported.
The injured, whose condition ranges from stable to critical, have been to taken to multiple hospitals in the vicinity, according to the Los Angeles Times. Ten people died at the scene, the LA sheriff’s department said.
Monterey Park, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of Los Angeles, has a large Asian population and Saturday’s Lunar New Year celebration had drawn a large crowd. Videos posted on social media showed people being loaded onto stretchers and placed into ambulances.
