The Ministry of Economy and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see the two sides cooperate in supporting research and development, publishing, translation, and developing public awareness by issuing books and organising cultural events mutually beneficial to both sides.
Under the MoU, entitled, ‘Reading is a Catalyst for Exploring the Future of the UAE Economy’, the two sides will launch a number of initiatives aimed at enriching the cultural climate and encouraging reading. The initiative falls within the framework of the UAE’s ‘Year of Reading 2016’ initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
One of the most prominent initiatives being drafted between the ministry and the foundation is the launch of the first specialised economic library in the country which will contain various publications issued by federal and local economic actors, major specialised studies and research in the sector, creating an integrated reference for those working in economic affairs, researchers, scholars, and government officials.
