Dr Hatem Ali, Representative of the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and Chief Executive Officer of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries, described the UAE as a leading international model of developing minds and youth empowerment.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), on the sidelines of the ‘Aqdar International Summit’ in Abu Dhabi on Monday, Ali said, “We, at the UN, are proud of our partnership with the UAE in many areas, including in combatting crime and reinforcing our efforts to achieve the UN’s sustainable development goals based on 17 pillars.â€
Regarding the cooperation between the UAE and the UNODC office in GCC countries, he stressed that the cooperation with the UAE in organising the summit has provided an ideal platform for promoting discussions between various participants, to reinforce their efforts to achieve sustainable development.
“We thank the UAE for its leading annual efforts to organise this global event, which promotes discussions related to exchanging policies and strategies between experts from many countries,†he added.
