Tawazun Industrial Park (TIP), and the Emirates Defence Companies Council (EDCC), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which the Park will provide a special package of facilities and benefits to the member companies of the Council.
The memorandum seeks to establish a framework for collaboration between the TIP and EDCC to enhance the strategic defence and security industry in the United Arab Emirates.
Sultan Abdulla Al Samahi, Acting Director-General of the EDCC, and Fayez Saleh Al Nahddy, Chief Executive Officer at TIP, signed the MoU on Monday at the EDCC stand at the UMEX & SimTex 2018 exhibition.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), after the signing, Al Samahi said the agreement is in accordance with the Council’s strategy to enhance the competitive edge of its members by providing a set of advantages that enhance value, resilience and inter-operability.
Under the MoU, TIP will offer preferential lease rates to EDCC members for all of TIP’s industrial assets, including workshops, warehouses, light industrial units and staff accommodation. The Park will also subsidise the power connection costs for EDCC members requesting power supply equal to, or less than 250 KW.
Following the signing, Sultan Al Samahi told reporters that EDCC’s cooperation with TIP would provide wider prospects of growth for the national defence companies, adding that the move is expected to contribute to accelerating the growth of the defence and security manufacturing sector in the UAE.
“The facilities and benefits offered by Tawazun Industrial Park will enable the national defence companies to strengthen their competitive advantages and drive their growth,” said Al Samahi.
He added that the EDCC will introduce TIP to its members and partners, and will use different platforms, including the website, to promote the services offered by the Park to the strategic manufacturers in the UAE.
“The MoU will provide incentives and competitive advantages to the national companies working under the umbrella of the Council,” according to Fayez Al Nahddy.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Saif Mohamed Al Hajeri, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, Tareq Abdul Raheem Al Hosani, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun Economic Council & Chairman of the EDCC, and Matar Ali Al Romaithi, Chief Executive of the Industrial Development Unit at Tawazun Economic Council.
