Riyadh’s new Snow City vies to attract tourists

Saudi citizens and residents can now enjoy a white winter in an environment that is safe. This follows the Kingdom’s indoor snow theme park at Al-Othaim Mall Rabwa in Riyadh. Riyadh
Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar inaugurated the Kingdom’s first Snow City.

the inauguration event, Snow
City showcased the variety of family focused activities and entertainment that will entice visitors to this new tourism destination.
Al-Othaim Leisure & Tourism Company introduced the Snow City features in the presence of Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Othaim, deputy chairman of the board, Al-Othaim Holding; Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Othaim, VP, Al-Othaim Leisure & Tourism Company; the French ambassador, in addition to a number of top ranking officials, business leaders from the Kingdom and the Gulf region, and members of the press. Commenting on the occasion, Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Othaim thanked the governor for inaugurating this major touristic attraction that supports the direction of the wise governance of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, which aims to boost and develop internal tourism.
This renders it an attractive and lucrative industry that contributes to the Kingdom’s economic diversification plans in order to propel the national economy
and create new jobs for Saudi nationals. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Othaim added that Al-Othaim Leisure & Tourism company is thrilled to launch Snow City —
the first comprehensive snow attraction in the Kingdom.
“This exciting new tourism destination is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to offering visitors and consumers the best in family entertainment that is comparable to indoor theme park venues in the region and the world,” he said.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience an array of activities and have incredible adventures in a realistic snowy environment,” he added. Snow City has been constructed on a 5,000 sqm area with a cost of around SR100 million and with an hourly capacity of 350 people. It is also host to various entertainment activities offered to visitors, including 12 different activities such as a panoramic suspension bridge, ice bumper cars, sledge and ski zone, rope courses, climbing wall, snowmobiles, and many others.
Additionally, Snow City provides exceptional offers and diverse entertaining events, which combine the beauty of the city and the quality of the services available for men and women, allowing them to have the most memorable experiences. The city’s mascot, Thaluj the snowman, and the penguin Batriqo, will welcome and engage visitors all day long. The Snow City is an exciting touristic attraction that offers a unique real snow experience for children and their parents alike at affordable prices. The latest attraction represents a vast leap for the tourism industry in the Kingdom. It offers “brilliant innovations and stylishly designed ice huts” that feature breathtaking views and bright colors, offering comfort and pleasure to all visitors.
Moreover, an events and celebration venue has been designated at the site, including a series of popular restaurants to satisfy all tastes. Al-Othaim Leisure and Tourism Company specializes in planning, operation and management of touristic projects and entertainment attractions.
