The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) launched a series of free online workshops through Zoom platform to discuss the latest trends in the field of public administration, public policy and innovation management. The programme forms part of the school’s pioneering efforts in the UAE and the region aimed at improving government performance, qualifying human cadres, and improving the work of vital sectors.
The series of online workshops is a contribution from MBRSG to support the distance learning environment currently in place in the UAE and to ensure the continuity of the education system and the qualification of cadres in all circumstances, especially during crises.
The online workshops will be held over two weeks starting Monday. Those wishing to take part in the free programme can register via https://www.mbrsg.ae/academic-workshops), with each participant receiving a certificate of attendance accredited by MBRSG.
His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al-Marri, Executive President of MBRSG affirmed that MBRSG possesses tools and capabilities that enable it to provide flexible educational content in order to continue its mission and achieve its goal of improving the performance of government and vital sectors at all times.
“By employing our educational cadres, we seek to continue the march of education and training in MBRSG with efficiency and quality during the current situation. The series of free online workshops reflects our commitment to provide leaders, employees and students intensive educational content that supports learning in various areas of public administration, public policies and innovation, as well as shedding light on new concepts in these areas, which will witness change and evolution during the current period and after the end of COVID-19,†said His Excellency.
“We have in our educational portfolio programmes and tools through which we seek to empower government leaders as well as leaders in the private sector, and to qualify employees to deal with the anticipated challenges of the coming years in order to recover the economy with innovative mechanisms and unconventional solutions,†he added.
MBRSG’s workshop series will be delivered through four sessions over two weeks, with ‘Public Administration Insights,’ ‘Innovation Management Insights’ and ‘Public Policy Insights’ conducted in English and ‘Illuminations on Public Administration’ presented in Arabic.
‘Public Administration Insights’ will be held on Monday, May 4 at 9:00pm and moderated by Dr. Raquel Warner, Assistant Professor in Education Policy at MBRSG. The first in the workshop series will address ways to help future leaders develop the required competencies for change management in the current private and public sector environments. It aims to support leaders in taking their organisations in the right direction and to motivate them to improve, innovate, and transform their organisation’s agenda in a sustainable and effective manner. Focusing on identifying the competencies needed for change, the workshop aims to enhance an understanding of leadership behaviour that leads to positive change.
The ‘Innovation Management Insights’ workshop, held on Wednesday, May 6 at 9:00pm and run by Professor Melodena Stephens, Professor of Innovation Management at MBRSG, will discuss mechanisms for dealing with the future of innovation in the world post-COVID-19 crisis and the need for government leaders to innovate after the crisis ends in order to implement plans and strategies. The workshop will discuss how to make innovation a working method to achieve goals set over a hundred years, similar to the target of the UAE’s plan of buildingthe first human settlement on Mars by 2117. -the MarShot.
The ‘Public Policy Insights’ workshop, which will be held during the evening of May 11, will be moderated by Dr. Immanuel Azaad Moonesar, Associate Professor- Health Policy at MBRSG. Designed to provide an opportunity to develop advanced intellectual and practical skills in public policy development and administration, the workshop aims to provide participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge to develop and apply the analytical tools necessary for high quality policy analysis and strategic development, and to enhance their ability to set priorities in times of crisis.
In the final workshop that will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, Dr. Yousif El Ghalayini, Assistant Professor in Public Administration and Executive MPA Programme Coordinator at MBRSG, will highlight public administration, its vital role in development and welfare, and its response to crises worldwide. The workshop will discuss the role of public administration in building and managing government institutions, making policies, and the discipline’s political, religious, cultural and technological aspects. The workshop will also address change and reforms in public administration over the past decades with reference to classic principles and smart government.
