The Ministry of Economy will organise a promotional seminar during the first International Import Expo which will be held in Shanghai, China, next November, where the UAE will participate through an official and commercial delegation led by the ministry that will include local authorities and major exporters, as well as entrepreneurs who are leaders of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The exhibition, which will be attended by over 100 participants with an interest in the Chinese market, aims to highlight commercial and investment opportunities for Emirati businessmen and exporters, as the first open platform that will showcase export opportunities to local Chinese markets.
Mohammed Nasser Hamdan Al Zaabi, Director of the Commercial Promotion Administration at the Ministry of Economy, said that the exhibition is a commercial opportunity, as China is the leading importer and consumer in the world. In light of the Chinese government’s new import policies and its new policy of openness to the world, there is also considerable potential to promote Emirati exports in China and improve the economic and trade relations between the two countries, he added.
The UAE and China have exceptional economic and trade relations, as China is the UAE’s leading trade partner while the UAE is one of China’s key partners in the region. The value of non-oil trade between the two countries is around $46.3 billion, and over 4,000 Chinese companies operate in the UAE, with more than 5,000 Chinese trademarks present in the UAE market.
