China’s leading telecommunications equipment and services company Huawei’s ‘honor’ model has announced that its ‘honor 5X’ smartphone launched in February,
has sold five times more than its predecessor 4X device.
Chris Sunbaigong, Vice president of Huawei honor, told Emirates Business, “Honor is the
No 1 smartphone e-brand from Huawei. As a parent company, Huawei has stabilized its market share in the region and currently sits at the No 2 spot (according to the JFK report) of which honor already contributes 15 percent of its revenue. Over the past few months since launching in the Middle East we have established the brand successfully and are confident of its growth, particularly following the successful launch of four devices (honor 6 Plus, honor 4X, honor 7 and honor 5X) as well as broadening our distribution channels with the new e-commerce.†He added, “This has expanded our reach as well as our connection with our consumers which is paramount to our future success, allowing further understanding and more direct contact as a brand.â€
The company stated that the further driving the brand’s 100 percenet growth year-on-year which is delivering 15 percent contribution to Huawei’s extensive progression in the Middle East. Globally, honor’s revenue contributed 30 percent to Huawei’s registered 69 percent revenue growth in 2015 compared to the previous year.
Sunbaigong, elaborated on the honor’s new range, “In line with our strategy to get closer to the end user, we launched our e-commerce platform at the beginning of this year to provide an additional touchpoint for consumers to learn more about our products as well as purchase them directly from us.â€
IDC analysis firm’s research predicts that worldwide smartphone shipments are expected to rise to 1.9 billion by 2019 – up from 1.4 billion last year.
“Our focus for the first quarter of this year is the street smart honor 5X, which we launched on February 8 amongst critical acclaim. Rather than pushing out phones to the market as quickly as possible, we are more concerned with creating technology and smartphone devices designed around the end user. Our consumer is the main factor in our product launch strategy and you will see that with the honor 5X, we have filled a gap in the market with a smartphone packed with premium features that have never been seen before in its price category,†he said.
