Dubai / WAM

A new launch date for the UAE Hope Probe mission to Mars have been set for Friday July 17 at 12:43am UAE time.
The UAE Space Agency and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, in collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, made the announcement following a decision to delay the mission due to bad weather conditions.
The UAE’s space mission — the Arab world’s first interplanetary mission — will launch on July 17 at 12:43am UAE time (July 16 at 8:43pm GMT) from Tanegashima Space Centre in Japan.
The launch is the culmination of efforts of a large team of young Emirati cadres, comprising 200 engineers, experts and researchers, who over the past six years have prepared for this moment and ensured that all scientific and logistical preparations to control the Probe mission were completed.
The Probe will travel 493.5 million km over seven months to reach Mars’ orbit in February 2021, coinciding with the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations to mark the
historic union of the Emirates.
