Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), launched the ‘My Culture, My Identity’ initiative under the theme ‘Zayed, our heritage, our identity†which will run from August 5–9, coinciding with the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s accession day when he became ruler of Abu Dhabi on August 6, 1966.
This initiative is part of Dewa’s efforts to achieve the main objectives of ‘Year of Zayed’, to commemorate the centennial of the birth of the Founding Father of the UAE. It also comes as part of Dewa’s initiatives to highlight Sheikh Zayed’s efforts in preserving the UAE’s heritage and enhancing its national identity.
“At Dewa, we aim to achieve the main objectives for ‘Year of Zayed’ through initiatives and programmes that highlight the humanitarian and cultural heritage of the late Sheikh Zayed. The ‘My Culture, My Identity’ initiative highlights Sheikh Zayed’s commitment to the UAE’s culture and his efforts to encourage people to uphold their national identity and the noble values they were brought up on. This annual initiative has special significance as it coincides with Sheikh Zayed’s accession day, and began his journey to inspire the people, paving the way for the union
