Covid-19: MBRSG to highlight challenges, opportunities

The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) – the first research and teaching institution focused on promoting governance and public policy in the Arab world – will host a series of live Instagram sessions to highlight the challenges and opportunities being presented by the current Covid-19 pandemic. Starting from Monday, April 13 the sessions will be streamed live on MBRSG’s official Instagram account: @MBRSGAE.
The series of discussions aims to stimulate conversation and generate analysis on the effects of the coronavirus. Topics include finding solutions for the challenges created by the virus on various community and business fields, studying its effects on key sectors, its threat to business continuity, the potential opportunities of the current crisis, thinking in a proactive way to overcome this period, and the opportunities that might present once the pandemic is over.
“The forthcoming series of live sessions we are hosting on the impact of the coronavirus embody the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who has devoted all efforts and resources to support the community and the economy during the current situation,” said MBRSG’s Executive President, His Excellency Dr. Ali Sebaa Al Marri.
“It also reflects MBRSG’s commitment to providing knowledge, expertise and research to all government leaders and employees and to develop the capacity of government entities and private sector companies so that they have a clear and more positive vision for overcoming Covid-19,” HE Dr Al Marri added.
His Excellency continued: “In light of the current challenges, we must all work together hand-in-hand to overcome this difficult phase and learn its important lessons so that we can continue on the path towards sustainable development. The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government is keen to employ all available tools that enable future leaders to face challenges, whatever their nature. I invite everyone to follow this series and participate with their views to contribute to a constructive dialogue that serves the interests of society.”
The MBRSG sessions will be broadcasted every Monday and Wednesday from 7:00-7:30 pm until April 29. The series comprises of six episodes – four of which are in Arabic and two in English – covering several topics related to the Covid-19 coronavirus, such as its impact on government and service sectors, dealing with its repercussions, facing its challenges, and creating opportunities from the crisis.
The details and timings of the interactive Instagram sessions are as follows: ‘Lessons Learned from the Coronavirus?’ delivered by His Excellency Dr. Ali Bin Sebaa Al-Marri, Executive President of MBRSG (Monday, April 13); ‘Agile Government: Crisis Responses and Learning’ delivered by Professor Melodena Stephens Professor of Innovation Management at MBRSG (April 15); ‘The Economy after the Corona Crisis’ by Dr. Abdullah Al-Awadi, lecturer and trainer at MBRSG (April 20); Health Policies during and after Epidemics’ by Dr. Immanuel Azaad Moonesar, Assistant Professor in Health Policy MBRSG (April 22); ‘Post-Corona Governments’ by Professor Raed Awamleh, Dean of MBRSG (April 27) and ‘Organisational Structures and their role in Institutional Adjustment’ by Dr. Yousif El-Ghalayini, Assistant Professor in Public Administration at MBRSG (April 29 2020).
