Arab Children’s Parliament visits Sharjah Centre of Astronomy

Members of the Arab Children’s Parliament has paid a visit to the Sharjah Centre for Astronomy and Space Sciences to get acquainted with the various sections of the centre such as the astronomical observatory, research and laboratories, and the astronomical dome.
Aisha Al Owais, a research assistant at the Meteorological Laboratory, explained to the Arab Parliament members the types of observatories for monitoring distant objects, planets and the sun.
The visit came within activities of the third session of the Parliament held in Sharjah to introduce its members to the research and laboratory department that specialises in the study of miniature satellites, the space weather laboratory, the meteorite centre, and the remote sensing centre.
Commenting on the visit, Ayman Othman Al-Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Children’s Parliament, said, “The members of the Parliament continue to visit the most important scientific and cultural centres in the Emirates, and we’ve seen the great impact of those visits through the interaction of members, their appreciation and their pride of what they’ve come across on a distinguished scientific and knowledge experience, that is aimed at achieving the ambition and goals of the Arab Parliament and strengthening its future role in serving our great Arab homeland”.
On the other hand, and within the Arab Parliament’s keenness to develop the skills and expertise of its members, two training workshops were held; prevention of bullying of children, and the Fatima bint Mubarak Prize for Motherhood.
