The Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi (ADDED) signed a cooperation agreement with the Abu Dhabi University (ADU) to boost mutual cooperation and joint coordination in preparing technical studies, scientific research and programmes and plans that would support the private sector.
The parties will provide training and rehabilitation programmes, encourage innovation initiatives, and capitalise on the available mutual databases.
Khalifa bin Salem Al Mansouri, ADDED Acting Under-Secretary, and Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, signed the agreement at ADDED headquarters. The signing was attended by senior officials from both parties.
Al Mansouri said that this agreement comes within the tasks and mandate set out by Law No. 02 of 2009 on the establishment of ADDED, which authorised ADDED to propose economic policies, development plans, long-term strategies and advanced legislations in cooperation with government bodies and stakeholders.
He noted that ADDED has signed several cooperation agreements with a number of universities, colleges and academic and research institutes across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to promote its role in mobilising these institutions to take part in development programmes and initiatives that aim to achieve Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
He expressed his hope that this agreement would further consolidate joint cooperation between ADDED and the University of Abu Dhabi in a way that would help achieve the strategic objectives of both parties while also boost the development programs that support the private sector in the
emirate.
Dr. Ibrahim expressed the ADU’s commitment to promoting its joint cooperation with ADDED by implementing the terms and articles of the agreement, which comes in line with the university’s outstanding programmes for its graduate and postgraduate students to meet the requirements of the labour market in the UAE and across the region at large.
He stressed ADU’s commitment to be an active contributor to the ongoing sustainable development and modernisation process witnessed by the UAE by providing the nation with distinguished, well-equipped graduates who have the knowledge, the skills and the deep understanding of the labour market.
Dr. Ibrahim pointed out that by signing such agreements, the ADU aims to benefit from the cooperation opportunities with distinguished organisations like ADDED and other reputable departments, in the UAE and worldwide, in such a way that enables the ADU to use modern educational techniques that keep the university well ahead of developments at all levels.
