The second edition of the Mother of the Nation Festival has captured the imaginations of more than 40,000 visitors through a breath-taking range of entertainment offerings, exhilarating activities and interactive installations over the course of three days following its grand opening on 26th March.
Organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and held along Abu Dhabi Corniche until 4th April, the Mother of the Nation Festival is dedicated to highlighting the values of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and the importance of family coherence and cultural understanding across UAE society.
In response to demand and the huge turnout of visitors that the Mother of the Nation Festival has witnessed in its initial opening days, TCA Abu Dhabi has announced that it is extending the festival’s opening hours until midnight every day, instead of on weekends only.
HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director General of TCA Abu Dhabi, said: “Due to high demand, the opening hours of the festival have been extended to midnight every day for the remaining days of the festival. The extension of hours will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the extensive programme of offerings the festival is providing this year, which is already proving to be immensely popular with residents and visitors to Abu Dhabi alike.”
Many signature highlights await visitors over the course of the remaining seven days, including the unmissable Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions, a spectacular concert tribute to the memorable music of the Pokémon franchise showcased through a unique orchestral event taking place on the Main Stage on March 31 from 7:10pm to 8pm.
The astounding Lords of Lightning- Frequency Rider show will continue to captivate festival-goers with their pulse-pounding performances utilising outstanding visual effects with animated metal sculptures at the Beach Dining Zone. Demonstrating the importance of global water sustainability, distinctive walk-through installation Miyah – World of Water will continue to offer an immersive educational experience at the heart of the Progress Zone and the Majlis: Interactive Conversations programme is set to welcome one of CNN International’s highest profile anchors, Becky Anderson and acclaimed author and parenting expert Dr Shefali Tsabary, both of whom will discuss differing aspects of motherhood.
The Mother of the Nation Festival is held over 10 days, with a rich line-up of engaging activities for visitors of all ages. The Festival’s events are organised across four distinct zones: the Souq Zone, Beach Dining Zone, Happiness Zone, Progress Zone as well as the Mother of the Nation Pavilion which will highlight the vision and values of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.
