Dubai Municipality to offer ‘7-star’ services

Dubai Municipality recently launched the international star system for rating services, encouraging the provision of quality services and measuring the levels of customer happiness using scientific methods.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said that the adoption of the initiative aims to improve the work mechanism of service provision, and raise the competitive level of public sector enterprises.
He pointed out that the system is a vital opportunity for the government establishments to adopt the best international practices in the field of customer service, through the development of an integrated system of quality and excellence, including the quality standards for rating the performance and the level of services provided.
Lootah added that the move is an embodiment of the leadership’s vision on society’s happiness, and to achieve first place in all development and service indicators in order to position Dubai and the UAE at a prestigious level on the global business map, and also to promote trade and investment attractiveness as well as raise the level of well-being and quality of services.
“The star rating system is considered to be one of the pioneering initiatives launched by the government under the guidance of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to serve as a model to improve services and bring happiness to customers,” he said.
Abdullah AbdulRahman, Director of Municipality Centres Department, confirmed that in the context of the adoption of transparency in communication with the customers, the system will work on the classification of Municipality centres from one to seven stars.
He said the results of classifications will be announced and the amount of stars obtained will be displayed within each centre to present a picture in principle to the customers about the level of expected service.
“The application of the international star system for rating services in the Emirate of Dubai reiterates the excellence of the system and enhances its importance as a unique model that can be implemented in the public sector and in all service bodies at national and international levels to raise the quality of service, which will contribute towards achieving the objectives and themes of the UAE National Agenda and Vision 2021,” said AbdulRahman.
