More than 2,000 exhibiting companies, 25 country pavilions, 700 speakers, 8,500 delegates, and 100,000 trade professionals from more than 125 countries, are participating in the 19th Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2016), which begins at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre today.
Held under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this year’s exhibition theme is ‘Strategies for the New Energy Landscape’, and is spanning 130,000 square metres of floor space, including a dedicated quay-side exhibition area with live tours of offshore vessels.
Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, CEO of Al Yasat Petroleum Operations Company and Adipec 2016 chairman, said, “Today’s energy landscape is driving organisations across the petroleum industry to be proactive and deploy innovative solutions to address today’s complex business challenges. Access to credible information and best practices across all industry verticals, from operations to people and talent, is central to this effort. As a premier knowledge-sharing platform for movers and shakers in energy, Adipec has, since its inception, established itself as a flagship event for the global oil and gas community.”
Also commenting on the
exhibition, Christopher Hudson, President, dmg events, Global Energy, noted, “This annual gathering of international industry stakeholders not only serves as a catalyst for shaping energy policy, but also as a powerhouse for generating business. More than half of Adipec attendees have sole or joint purchasing power, and exhibiting companies range from the world’s largest oil producers and service providers to manufactures of state-of-the-art E&P equipment. By bringing thought leaders, innovators, and policy makers under one roof, Adipec acts as an enabler of industry excellence.”
Hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and organised by dmg events, ADIPEC’s official opening ceremony includes keynote presentations by Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy; Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and ADNOC Group CEO; Mohammed Barkindo, OPEC Secretary-General; and Rex W Tillerson, Chairman and CEO of Exxon Mobil Corporation.
Closing the first day, the annual ADIPEC Awards will announce the 2016 winners of the prestigious awards, recognising individuals, companies, and projects that demonstrate excellence, best practices, and innovation in energy from around the globe.

Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), with its strong base of over 850 oil and gas powerhouses from 77 countries, is participating at ADIPEC, in a bid
to attract more oil and gas companies.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, commented about the participation at the exhibition, noting, “ADIPEC is one of the most important events on our calendar. We have witnessed the exhibition grow over the years, attracting the biggest and the best players from the energy industry. For Jafza, it is an opportunity to meet new investors, along with our current clients, and explore new business avenues for the companies.”
The free zone’s strategic proximity to the world’s largest service providers, the Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport, underlines Jafza’s most efficient multi-modal connectivity.
Sulayem added, “Jafza, over the past 3 decades, has established itself as the region’s energy hub and continues to work towards the vision of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to establish the Emirate as the global centre for innovative business and investment destination. The seamless operations, coupled with superior infrastructure and on-the-go services, augments our position among the free zones.
“With oil prices stabilising in the last few months, the industry is set for a positive 2017. We expect companies to expand their businesses to newer markets in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, and Jafza offers the ideal gateway to the companies.”
Sulayem added, “Our smart and innovative services reflect the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed of transforming Dubai into an international trade hub that offers value to its investors through effortless thoroughfare of their goods in the region and accelerates their business growth.”
