KUWAIT / WAM
Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO), Chairman of the UAE Media Council (UAEMC), affirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening Gulf media cooperation and advancing efforts aimed at developing the media ecosystem in the GCC countries. This, he said, supports the paths of sustainable development across various fields and sectors within the region. This came during his meeting with the UAE media professionals participating in the Arab Media Forum, whose activities commenced yesterday in the State of Kuwait.
Abdulla Al Hamed stated that the UAE continues its established approach to building a national media sector that upholds the highest levels of professionalism and responsibility in addressing various issues. He emphasised that today, media professionals bear great responsibility in representing their nation and safeguarding its reputation by conveying an accurate and balanced image that reflects its achievements and the values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect prevalent in its society. He added: “Media is no longer merely a tool for conveying news; it has become a partner in elevating the international standing of countries and shaping their global image. This requires awareness, professionalism, and a high degree of commitment from every media practitioner.”
He pointed out that the Arab Media Forum serves as an important platform to promote Arab media dialogue and to exchange experiences and practices among media institutions and professionals across the Arab world. He praised the organisers’ efforts and the themes being discussed by participants, which contribute to shaping new visions for the future of Arab and global media.
He noted that the active presence and participation of UAE media in the forum reflect the UAE’s commitment to building a future-oriented media model grounded in innovation and creativity. In this context, he highlighted the country’s preparations to host the global “Bridge” Summit next December, which will serve as a strategic platform to shape the future of media. The summit will focus on empowerment, partnership-building, sectoral integration, and innovative smart solutions that keep pace with rapid changes. He explained that the Bridge Summit will provide an interactive space that brings together an elite group of decision-makers, experts, and practitioners in the media sector from around the world. They will explore development opportunities, showcase pioneering experiences, and exchange visions in a way that helps establish more impactful and inclusive media—one that reflects human values, respects diversity, and serves communities with an open and responsible spirit.
