The National Media Office (NMO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, organised a media briefing in Abu Dhabi with local media entities to announce the launch of a national media campaign commemorating the 10th anniversary of the National Service Law.
The campaign emphasises the law’s role in instilling loyalty, patriotism, and sacrifice among Emirati citizens, contributing to the nation’s security, stability, and progress.
It also highlights the commitment of the Ministry of Defence and the NMO to showcasing the law’s positive impact across social, economic, and security domains. The National Service Law embodies the UAE leadership’s vision of fostering responsible citizenship, strengthening national awareness among youth, and preparing generations capable of defending and advancing the nation’s progress.
The briefing revealed details of planned celebrations, including the “Waqfat Walaa” parade, which will feature the largest display of Armed Forces personnel ever held in the UAE. This event, aligned with Eid Al Etihad, is scheduled for December 2 in Al Sameeh, a site symbolic of the UAE’s founding.
Al Sameeh holds historical significance as the location where Abu Dhabi and Dubai leaders, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, signed the Union Accord on February 18 1968, paving the way for the unification of all seven emirates.
Dr Jamal Al Kaabi, Director-General of the NMO, stressed the importance of the partnership with the Ministry of Defence and the National and Reserve Service Authority in highlighting the law’s achievements over the past decade. He stated that the campaign will focus on success stories and the law’s role in fostering values such as loyalty, unity, and national responsibility, while strengthening the UAE’s social fabric.
The Director-General of the National Media Office reiterated the NMO’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the Ministry of Defence to advance shared national objectives.
Dr Jamal also underscored the media’s vital role in raising public awareness about the significance of national service, expressing confidence in local media outlets to support this noble mission.
Brigadier Khalifa Hamad Al Kaabi, Chief of the National Service and Reserve Authority (NSRA), remarked, “As we celebrate the tenth anniversary of the National and Reserve Service Law, we proudly reflect on the achievements of the past decade and appreciate the programme’s role in building a conscious and loyal generation dedicated to their homeland.
“Looking ahead, we pledge to our leadership to continue developing the capabilities of our youth to protect the nation’s resources and safeguard our glorious history, which our forefathers have proudly documented.”
He added that the issuance of the National and Reserve Service Law remains a landmark in the UAE’s history, reflecting an ambitious vision to cultivate a well-prepared generation capable of meeting future challenges. Through rigorous training and education in the Armed Forces, service becomes an honour, and graduation a privilege.
