DUBAI / WAM
The United States Mission to the UAE and Amideast UAE have announced the opening of the Fulbright Foreign Student Programme competition for 2025-2026 for Emirati students.
For over 75 years, the Fulbright Programme has given hundreds of thousands of passionate and accomplished students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals of all backgrounds and fields the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to important international problems, said a press release issued by the US Mission on Thursday.
Fulbrighters live and learn together with people of different cultures and become part of a global network that fosters mutual understanding between nations, advances knowledge across communities, and improves lives around the world. After they return home, they join thousands of alumni serving as leaders in their communities, across the globe and in every field imaginable.
The Fulbright Foreign Student Programme brings graduate students, early-career professionals, and artists from the UAE to conduct research and study in the United States. The award includes funding for tuition and required fees; a book, equipment, and travel allowance; a monthly stipend for room and board; and a limited health benefits plan.
The applicants may apply in most fields of study, including the humanities, social sciences, science, technology, and engineering. However, graduate programmes with a clinical studies component, such as medicine and nursing, are not permitted.
As Fulbright participants, Emirati students will have the unique opportunity to experience life in the United States and share their community’s unique culture and traditions with Americans. Fulbrighters also have opportunities for personal and professional development, as well as the ability to conduct research and collaborate with colleagues at US higher education institutions.
Participants will be selected through an open, merit-based competition in which leadership potential, academic excellence, and ability to adjust to life in the United States are all considered. Individuals may apply by following the online application instructions at https://apply.iie.org/ffsp2025/.
Applicants must be a UAE citizen. US citizens or green card holders are not eligible to apply. Applicants must be residing in the UAE throughout the application, selection, and placement process.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution at the time of the programme start date is the required qualification. The applicant should have a strong academic background and be proficient in English and/or able to attend a Long-Term English (LTE) programme prior to the start of the study programme. Having two years of professional work experience is optional.
Preference will be given to individuals who have little or no previous experience studying or living in the United States. Applicants of all backgrounds, including people of determination, are encouraged to apply, said the press release.
