Region’s largest auto aftermarket show opens doors today in Dubai

As the automotive industry vrooms into the lane of fast growing sectors in the region, the demand for automobile spare parts also soars high. Underlining the boost in the industry, exhibitors from around the world have come together on the same platform to exhibit their products at the region’s largest auto aftermarket trade show — Automechanika 2016 in Dubai.
The three-day event will begin on Sunday. Over 220 global manufacturers will come under one roof showcasing their tyre and battery-related products and services at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Event organiserMesse Frankfurt stated thatthe market has witnessed a steady growth of 15 percent year-on-year (yoy) in exhibitor numbers over 2015, also a 19 percent yoy increase in exhibition space. “Trade industry of tyres and batteries has witnessed an exponential success stories at Automechanika Dubai. This grow has been quite significant over the past few years,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East.
Pauwel added, “As there is rise in demand of the automative aftermarket, the industry in the region continues to pick up pace. Also, the giants of the international market have also shown keen interest in the regional market, which can be confirmed by the escalating number of the international exhibitors at Automechanika Dubai 2016.”
According to analysts Frost & Sullivan auto spare parts demand in the MENA region is expected to hit US$16.85bn (AED61.9bn) by 2020. The report also predicts a CAGR of around 13% between 2012 and 2017 for parts, accessories, lubricants and batteries, with tyres and inner tubes keeping pace at a rate of 12% over the same period.
Automechanika play a significant role in providing a platform to the aftermarket and tyre industry as it caters to many opportunities for
industry players in the Middle East and worldwide. The region is however ranked within the world’s fastest-growing markets for automotive products, according to Business Monitor International.
In addition to tyres and batteries, the annual trade and networking platform focuses on the five other core product groups of parts and components; electronics and systems; repair and maintenance; service station and car wash; and accessories and tuning.
Automechanika Dubai 2016 will also feature the spare parts and maintenance conference on the May 9 as a part of the Automechanika Academy. The Automechanika Academy is a regular feature bringing together international industry experts, relevant government authorities and key industry players to discuss the most pressing issues in the industry and analyse the changing trends in the market.
