The record speed and immediate response by the staff of the Dubai Foundation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) and medical team of Saudi German Hospital Dubai saved an Arab young man from the inevitable paralysis from a painful traffic accident.
The paramedics moved him to the emergency department at the Saudi German Hospital in Dubai. Because of his critical condition, he was immediately transferred to the operating theatre after assessment of his difficult condition, and his condition turned into a better, after the urgent successful surgery that resulted in saving him from serious complications. It was found that there was a double fracture in fourth lumbar vertebra with no stability, and that caused severe pain under the spine, which threatened the occurrence of quadriplegia if the nerve cords would cut in such a sensitive place.
Dr Khaldoon Osman, neurosurgery specialist, explained receiving the injured person at the emergency department and transferring him to the Neurosurgery Department. As well, the rest of the radiological investigations were conducted from axial and magnetic resonance classes.
