Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, has highlighted some of DEWA’s most important initiatives to achieve the UAE Vision 2021 at a meeting with Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, at DEWA’s head office.
He also threw light on the efforts to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021 to transform Dubai into a smart, integrated, and connected city that uses its resources sustainably, and whose environmental elements are clean, healthy, and sustainable.
Al Tayer also highlighted the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to transform Dubai into a global hub for clean energy and green economy, producing 75 percent of its energy from clean sources by 2050, making Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world.
“DEWA aims to raise awareness among the community and promote the rational consumption of resources as part of daily life, in addition to highlighting the importance of protecting the environment to make a positive change, and supporting national efforts to enhance sustainable development in Dubai. This supports with the long-term Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to achieve sustainable development in Dubai, and enhance its position as a global hub for trade, finance, tourism, and green economy, providing a sustainable future for the Emirate, in line with our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility,†said Al Tayer.
Al Zeyoudi commended DEWA’s efforts to support development and growth, and establish a new phase of environmental sustainability through innovative initiatives and projects in the UAE.
