Abu Dhabi / Emirates Business

Adnoc Distribution, the UAE’s leading fuels and convenience retailer, is expanding the number of Smart Tag installation centers in the UAE to meet increased demand from motorists. More than 141,000 Smart Tags have now been fitted to vehicles across the country, including 29,500 since Adnoc Distribution launched a free giveaway.
Two new Smart Tag installation centers are now open in Sharjah and the Western region, while opening hours will be extended at the five existing centers in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Ajman following the end of Ramadan.
Saeed Al Rashdi, Acting CEO at Adnoc Distribution, commented: “We’ve had a remarkable response to our Smart Tag Installation program.
Our customers have been keen to embrace smart tag technology, which makes refueling quicker and easier. Adnoc Distribution has invested in this technology to improve our customers’ experience and I’m confident that, over time, Smart Tags will also help to reduce congestion by speeding up the refueling process.”
Smart Tags allow customers to pay for fuel without using a credit card or cash – instead payment is made electronically through an electronic wallet, which is topped up online.
By the end of June, all of the company’s 362 service stations in the UAE will be Smart enabled, allowing customers to quickly refuel and pay.
