ABU DHABI / Emirates Business

For centuries women have been struggling to prove their worth in the male dominated pharmaceutical world, however, the women workforce at Takeda – a global, research and development-driven pharmaceutical company have made significant strides in both management and junior roles. The company has witnessed a great number of fantastic female leaders who not just hold positions of power, but also bring positivity and diversity to the industry.
With a firm belief that every woman has the ability to lead and create positive change, Takeda’s total work strength is 1,077, out of which 44% (476) are female employees.
With several global studies pointing to the fact that gender diversity promotes stability and sustainability of the business achieving long-terms goals for the organization, it has been noted that Takeda’s NEMEA Executive Committee consists of 12 members, of which seven are female representatives, indicating more than 50 percent female employees in the committee.
Given the upsurge in the pharmaceutical sector in the MENA region, there is a tremendous potential for jobs for women in leadership positions and otherwise. However, the industry-wise hiring for women in pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors has still a long way to go.
