The 6th Fujairah International Mining Forum and Expo (IMF) will be held from February 26-28, under the patronage of
His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, to promote investments in quarrying and mining in the Arab region.
The three-day forum will be held under the title, “In line with Zayed’s vision, Investing our wealth is a National Priority”, and will be organised by the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, FNRC, in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Arab Industrial Development and Mining
Organisation.
The event will discuss the requirements for constructing and developing small and medium industries in the sector and will assess the environmental impacts of industrial quarrying. It will also examine how to encourage the transfer of technology and expertise and how to develop the expertise of Arab citizens engaged in the mining and quarrying industries.
The forum will also encourage cooperation between the public and private sectors, and will examine ways of identifying the options for the recycling of waste from mining industries, as well as making use of renewable energy sources.
The forum will be accompanied by an exhibition displaying the products and services of mining companies, manufacturers of equipment and machineries used in all stages of mining, industries devoted to creating products from the mined material and geospatial and mineral exploration companies.
The event will be attended by representatives of Arab ministries concerned with mineral wealth and indus-
try, universities, scientific research centres and other relevant bodies.
The FNRC was established as an independent entity by Emiri Decree No. 1 of 2009 issued by the Ruler of Fujairah and is the supervisory body for Fujairah’s mining and quarrying industry.
It also conducts studies and geological surveys to develop rock and mineral sectors and exploit the natural resources of the emirate.
