A delegation from the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has visited the Russian Federation’s Sverdlovsk Oblast region to explore care and rehabilitation practices for People of Determination
Led by Abdullah Al-Humaidan, ZHO’s Secretary-General, and accompanied by Abdullah Al Kamali, ZHO’s Executive Director of the People of Determination Sector, and department directors, the delegation discussed enhancing collaboration with Sverdlovsk officials in scientific, educational, cultural, and sports fields. They focused on improving living standards for People of Determination and signed several cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding.
The organisation represented the UAE as the guest of honour at the 2024 International Exhibition for the Social Technology Forum.
Al-Humaidan presented a paper on assistive technology, social employment, and support for People of Determination, highlighting employment policies, evaluations, and initiatives.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with H. Turner National Medical Research Centre for Children’s Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery in Russia to enhance cooperation in diagnostics, surgery, and rehabilitation.
ZHO also signed a partnership with the Ural Federal University—Russia, enhancing cooperation between different cultures and peoples through mutual research and development cooperation in psychology and psychiatry. The two parties will work as co-authors to create an Emirati-Russian psychological dictionary.
The delegation visited the National Medical Research Hospital for Paediatric Orthopedics and Trauma, the Foundation for Prosthetics and Orthotics in the Sverdlovsk Oblast, the Regional Center for Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities, the Cognitive Technology Centre and the Equestrian Country Club in Sverdlovsk.
A joint sports event featured exhibition matches between the Zayed Higher Organisation’s wheelchair volleyball and basketball teams and their Russian counterparts at the Sverdlovsk sports hall.
