The Zayed Giving Initiative has treated more than 3,000 children and elderly at the Emirates Mobile Field Hospital in Zanzibar.
A group of Emirati and Tanzanian physicians volunteered as part of the humanitarian programme to deliver medical aid. The campaign falls in line with the #Year of Giving initiative, as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Dr. Adel Al Shamari, an Emirati cardiac surgeon, who leads the Zayed Giving Initiative and Emirati Doctors, said that the voluntary mission has successfully provided diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services to three thousand individuals in need of health care.
“We were able to diagnose hundreds of undiagnosed cases in children and the elderly, as well as treating thousands in the current campaign through the Emirates Mobile Field Hospital, as well as provide free medication contributed by and providing free medicine, which was provided by the Emirates Medicine Bank,” Dr Al Shamari added.
The volunteer medical mission was organised as part of the joint efforts between the UAE’s and Tanzanian health and humanitarian institutions.
