The Zayed Giving convoys have begun their humanitarian mission in Africa, covering vast geographical swathes in Sudan, Egypt, Tanzania, Mauritania and Morocco.
The convoys are conducting their mission under the supervision of the UAE’s doctors, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Health and Prevention and doctors who have volunteered to work in these countries.
This charity exercise under the Zayed Giving Initiative also involves the Saudi-German Hospital, the Dar Al Ber Society and the UAE programme for community volunteering.
Dr Adel Al Shamery, Executive Director of the Zayed Giving Initiative and the head of the UAE team of doctors,
referred to the leadership provided by the UAE towards the international humanitarian voluntary medical work.
The humanitarian charity work, undertaken by the UAE in keeping with the values established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has become a model for other countries of the world to emulate, he said. The UAE leadership accords priority to voluntary work, a defining characteristic of the UAE people, he added.
Al Shamery reiterated the commitment of the volunteers working with the Zayed Giving Initiative to pursue the path of development, excellence and leadership in order to boost national efforts aimed at carving out a distinct place for the UAE at the global level.
