Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development and Chairman of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, has stressed that the UAE’s wise leadership considers youth among its priorities, based on the belief that they are the main cornerstone of community development and one of the fundamental components of the nation’s success, and its excellence in global
competitiveness.
He made this statement during his participation in the Youth Sector Development Brainstorming Workshop, organised by the Youth and Cultural Activities
Department in the General
Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare. He praised the wide participation of government institutions and members of youth centres, and said he appreciated the interaction and the discussions on initiatives that serve the interests and aspirations of youth.
Hind Al Badwawi, Senior Youth Specialist in the Department of Youth and Cultural Activities at the Authority, said that the brainstorming workshop included many goals, including motivating youth to participate in expressing their views and discussing issues from their perspective, knowing the challenges faced by youth and developing suggestions for their solutions, and promoting their sense of responsibility in making decisions and participating in the community, as well as promoting team work. She added that the Youth Activities Department is seeking, through these goals, to develop the youth work sector and discuss the mechanisms of achieving these goals according to a general strategy drafted by the authorities, which complies with the nation’s policy for developing youth work.
Al Badwawi highlighted that the importance of the brainstorming workshop, implemented at the headquarters of the authority, is due to the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who urged government organisations to seek creative solutions for the challenges facing all sectors, and to pave the way for youth to express their views by placing ideas and initiatives to develop the activities of the National Programme for Summer Activities.
She also highlighted the major interaction that took place in the workshop between Sheikh Nahyan and senior officials from government organisations, which led to the suggestion of innovative ideas and initiatives that will be studied and implemented soon.
