WSIS honours UAE Ministry of Interior

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2016 honoured the UAE’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a ceremony held recently in Geneva, in recognition of its efforts to participate in several distinct projects.
The Ministry of Interior reached the final competition among 15 Emirati projects and among 88 projects from around the world, in a reflection of its efforts in the development of smart and electronic services.
A delegation from the Ministry of Interior, who presented innovative posts in several different categories characterised worldwide, participated in the honouring ceremony.
Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shammari, Executive Director of the Ministry of Interior’s Smart Government Programme, commended the permanent and continuous support of the wise leadership, which, he said, has contributed to the ministry’s ability to compete globally through its participation with technical projects at the WSIS.
“This recognition of the UAE’s participation in the WSIS comes to reflect the extent of massive development being witnessed by the country in various fields, particularly in the field of upgrading to provide smart electronic services to customers with advance methods that enhances their experience and contributes to their satisfaction.”
Al Shammari went on to say that the WSIS constitutes a high-level international platform through which the efforts among the various countries of the world coordinate in all themes related to communication, information technology and digital content.
He added that all the participating projects reflect the strategic development emanating from the UAE’s Vision 2021 and the future strategy of the country.
