In line with its commitment to elevate the exhibition and event industry in Sharjah, Expo Centre Sharjah recently held a training workshop in the eastern region of the emirate.
The workshop was held in collaboration with Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Arab Union for International
Exhibitions and Conferences, and focused on enhancing competitiveness of exhibitions, and applying best international standards in the field. Attendees included several stakeholders in the exhibitions and events sector.
The workshop was conducted by Professor Khadija Laqees, a college professor specialised in event management and exhibitions.
Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Chief Executive Officer of Expo Centre Sharjah and Chairman of UFI’s MEA Chapter, commented, “This workshop comes in response to the meeting held between Sharjah Chamber and Expo Centre Sharjah on one hand, and several executives and stakeholders in event management companies in the eastern region, in parallel to Khor Fakkan Economic Forum. We organised this workshop in order to support entrepreneurs and Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs, in the industry in the eastern region of Sharjah.”
Mahmoud Al Jarrah, Secretary-General of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences, said, “This workshop comes in line with the Union’s plan to develop the industry around the Arab World, and the success of this programme will be replicated with several other regions where member entities operate.”
Al Jarrah thanked Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, represented by its Chairman Abdullah Sultan Al Owais; and Expo Centre Sharjah, represented by its CEO Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, for their support to the Union’s activities and plans, especially in organising the workshop, which will motivate the union to organise more workshops and training programmes in various countries around the region.
