This week, Visa Inc. (NYSE:V), the exclusive payment provider at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, launched its most ambitious integrated global Olympic Games campaign in the company’s history. Marking a bold new direction in Visa’s marketing and communications, the “Carpool” campaign will air in the lead-up to, and throughout, the Rio 2016 Olympic Games — the most technologically advanced Olympic Games to date.
“Visa is a worldwide leading payment technology brand and has
always stood for acceptance. That means assurance your payment will be accepted whether you click, dip, tap or swipe,” said Lynne Biggar, executive vice president, chief marketing and communications officer, Visa Inc. “Visa’s ‘Carpool’ campaign also exemplifies our belief in the power of acceptance, through both our Olympic partnership and our Team Visa athletes.”
The campaign’s centerpiece film, a full length extended cut, melds a diverse roster of more than 20 members of Team Visa—a group of Visa sponsored world-class Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls that share Visa’s values of acceptance, partnership and innovation. The campaign features more athletes, more ways to pay and more geographies than any other Olympic Games campaign in Visa’s 30-year sponsorship of the Olympic Movement. The film follows these athletes as they join a fun and light-hearted carpool to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, leveraging payment innovations to make purchases en route, using technologies such as Visa Checkout, Samsung Pay and chip cards, among others.
Members of Team Visa Rio 2016 in the one minute and twenty second film include Missy Franklin (USA – Swimming), Ibtihaj Muhammad (USA – Fencing), Carli Lloyd (USA – Soccer), Kerri Walsh Jennings (USA – Beach Volleyball), Valerie Adams (New Zealand – Shot Put), Ashton Eaton (USA – Decathlon), among
others.
