Vietnam will lift most restrictions on international travellers arriving in the country beginning from March 15, according to a post on the government’s website.
International tourists must have proof of being vaccinated or recovery from Covid-19 with a negative test result ahead of departure under the current plan, the website reported. They would be required purchase Covid-19 medical insurance coverage worth $10,000.
Those with suspected virus symptoms would undergo rapid tests at Vietnam airports, it said. Other passengers would have to self-isolate for 24 hours at their pre-registered places of accommodation, perform rapid or PCR testing and monitor their health for 14 days, according to the posting. It’s unclear how often they would undergo testing.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam directed the tourism ministry to provide a more detailed plan, according to the posting.
The government in November began allowing international tourists to travel to the country on government approved group tours to limited destinations.
