The UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) begun series of biblio-therapy workshops to train a selection of those working in the field of children’s literature. The workshops, which will train participants in both theory and application, will pioneer the first team of capable biblio-therapists in the UAE.
The course is being organised by the UAEBBY under the umbrella of its initiative, “Kan Yama Kan.” The name of the initiative is taken from the expression that is used to begin most Arabic children’s stories, and aims to provide quality books to children in areas that suffer from difficulties in gaining access to books. This initiative aspires to go beyond just providing books, but will also support the children emotionally through biblio-therapy.
