UAE provides AED23bn in aid to Yemen from 2015 through 2021

The UAE provided Yemen with nearly AED23 billion in aid from 2015 through 2021.
Of the total aid value, AED10.94 billion accounted for aid to support general programmes, AED4.54 billion as commodities aid, AED2.67 billion in assistance to the healthcare sector, AED1.78 billion for the power generation and supply sector, AED780 million for government and civil society aid, AED670 million for the transport and storage sector, AED600 million as social services aid, and AED980 million as assistance in miscellaneous fields.
The period between 2015-2021 saw Emirati cooperation and partnership with UN and international humanitarian organisations to consolidate efforts and ensure secure access to beneficiaries in all governorates of Yemen. Total Emirati aid provided under these partnerships accounted for $1.2 billion from 2015-2021.
In response to the global outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the UAE sent six medical aid planes to Yemen, carrying 1.122 tonnes of medical supplies, 65 ventilators, and 100,000 testing kits, benefiting 122,100 frontline medical professionals. It also provided 60,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
In 2021, the UAE provided a $230 million funding to international programmes that meet the medical, nutritional, and food security needs of the country.
It will benefit six million Yemenis, including one million children, in response to the food security risks observed in some areas of Yemen.
