UAE participates in Arab Economic and Social Council meet

Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for Economic Affairs, led the UAE delegation to the 98th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, held at the Arab League’s Secretariat-General in Cairo on Thursday.
The UAE delegation included Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, UAE ambassador to Egypt, and Representative to the Arab League, and Mohammed Saleh Sheluah, Adviser to the Minister of Economy, and other senior officials.
Al Shehhi said the delegates discussed the joint Arab action to boost development opportunities in light of the potential, and how best to address obstacles that hamper development in the region.
He added that the UAE participated actively in discussions, and pledged to support programmes and initiatives that could push forward the sustainable socioeconomic development in the Arab countries, thanks to the interest of the wise leadership in the Arab integration, and the need to reinforce the joint Arab action, which is a key to solving the developmental problems experienced by the Arab region.
Al Shehhi said increasing co-ordination among competent Arab development institutions could avail an opportunity to share success stories among the Arab states. He noted that the UAE achievements in various socio-economic fields represent models of success that could further boost the Arab development efforts.
The 98th session also discussed the free trade zone and customs union, development of investment and co-operation with international organisations, as well as the Arab Network for Information, productive families’ projects and others.
