Mohammed Sharaf, UAE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and M J Akbar, the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, on Tuesday, praised the significant momentum witnessed in bilateral relations after the visit of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, to the UAE in August last year, and the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to India in February.
During a meeting at the headquarters of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Sharaf noted that large corporations in the UAE are keen to invest in India, while calling on Indian companies to invest in the UAE, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector, space technologies, and industries, where India has vast expertise.
The Indian minister, who returned recently from a successful visit to the UAE where he attended the Indian Emirati Economic Forum in Dubai, praised the growth in bilateral relations, and stressed the need to transform the momentum of growth into more investments and economic projects for the benefit of the people in both countries.
Dr. Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Banna, UAE Ambassador to India, who attended the meeting, noted that the UAE has a strong strategic partnership with India.
“Dubai Expo 2020 is the first international exhibition that will be held in MENA and East Asia region. It will serve as a global platform that is expected to provide the country with major and special connections,” he pointed out.
