‘UAE-India foreign investment sees sharp rise’

A high profile delegation comprising 25 delegates from Thrissur Chamber of Commerce, India, under the leadership of its President TS Pattabhiraman, Chairman and Managing Director, Kalyan Silks held a high level discussion with officials from Dubai Chamber of Commerce on Monday in Dubai.
Announcing this in a press release, Pattabhiraman said that the team from Dubai Chamber of Commerce included HE Atiq Nassib, Vice President, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Omar Khan, Director, International Offices, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
In the meeting chaired by HE Atiq Nasib, he reiterated the strong links between UAE and India in general and Dubai & Kerala in particular. He cited several industries which are actively trading with Dubai in the diverse sectors including textiles, spices, jewellery etc. He also pointed out the changes that have taken place to make investments in India relatively easy, after the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to UAE. According to him the climate for foreign investment opportunities by both countries has improved tremendously.
In response Pattabhiraman thanked the Dubai Chamber of Commerce for their hospitality and expressed a keen desire to get associated withDubai Chamber of Commerce for mutual benefit “India in general and Kerala in particular has got very strong economic ties with the UAE. Under the dynamic leadership of Modiji, the relationship has strengthened and we have already started seeing the results of his initiatives. Thrissur plays a major role in the business landscape of India. It is also important to note that many of the leading NRIs with strong business connections in the UAE hail from Thrissur. One of the objectives of this meeting is to find a way that will facilitate business communities of the UAE and Thrissur to establish stronger trade ties and contribute to the economic development while taking the bilateral relations to a higher level,” he pointed out.
“The Dubai Chamber of Commerce is one of the most respected bodies in this region. We have observed the proactive role played by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and we took this initiative to understand their success and growth model. We strongly believe that our discussions will pave the way to boost economic cooperation and enhancement of trade and commerce between the business communities of Dubai and Thrissur,” he added. Pattabhiramanalso extended invitation to Dubai chamber of commerce officials to visit Thriasur chamber of commerce in Thrissur.
According to the Secretary of Thrissur Chamber of Commerce, M T R Vijayakumar, who is also the Managing Directorof Elite Group, the meeting in Dubai is a strong initiative from their side to enhance the functioning of the Chamber.“We look forward to use this newly-established relationship to serve as an ideal platform for Thrissur businesses to strengthen their trading ties with Dubai-based businesses. We want to benefit from the opportunities that Dubai’s vibrant investment environment offers to companies looking to expand globally. We also want to implement the various socially as well as commercially beneficial initiatives undertaken by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce in Thrissur. We are confident that this will help to strengthen the functioning of Thrissur Chamber of Commerce and make it more productive and beneficial to the business community as well as to the society.”
The delegation also met up with Muraleedharan K, Deputy Consul General and outlined their plans. Malabar Gold & Diamond in association with The Dubai Gold and JewelleryGroup arranged a special welcome reception to the delegation from Thrissur Chamber of Commerce. Pattabhiraman thanked the Group and emphasized the positive climate to do business in Kerala, inspite of of the odds. He invited to all the members of the Gold and Jewellery group to Thrissur for extending their business there. He said Kerala has the Midas touch for doing business.
